Passion to help you to be the best
Smaller firms might seem more comfortable to work in, but can they provide the experience, variety or career path and promotion prospects you want? Will they have the variety of challenging work to make your day interesting and help you know the impact you are making to clients?
Many bigger firms have a more ‘corporate’ structure to their employment opportunities. Perhaps you are looking for a role in one department that you do all day every day. Some may pay well, but based on fixed pay structures that can’t recognise your unique contribution.

The Mark Holt & Co way
We invest in our team
We work extremely hard to understand what our team members want, both in terms of the work they are involved in and the reward packages we provide.
Over the life of the firm we have continually evolved our employee rewards as circumstances have changed and roles evolved and we will continue to listen to our team and develop packages that meet their needs.
But financial reward packages are just a part of the deal. We also invest heavily in having fun together as a team. This will include regular “fun events” throughout the week to raise energy levels and build working relationships. We also have larger events to celebrate successes, such as a day at the races, murder mystery dinners, ‘it’s a knockout’ fun days not just the annual Christmas Party (although we do those as well!).
The challenge for us, as it perhaps is for every employer, is to create a working environment and a reward package that is tailored for each individual employee, but fair on the whole team. If you want to support from the side-lines rather than be the cheerleader at the front, that’s OK. If you want to do a great job and stick to what you know, or you want to be challenged and pushed to be the very best you can be, they’re both ok too.
What we are looking for are enthusiastic people that can work within a great team, with a positive attitude. The rest is just details.

“The reason that I chose to work at Mark Holt & Co was to enable me to get my work/life balance back in check. Pre-Pandemic I found that I was constantly thinking about work, stressed about situations which I had no control over, and questions which I had no support on, greatly affecting my home life and mental health. Then the pandemic arrived and those feelings quickly escalated until I was mentally exhausted.
I had always heard that Mark Holt & Co was a great place to work, and a fun environment but never believed that 1) I could work there without having to complete further study, or 2) a workplace could actually be fun! After meeting with Debbie Huntley and Mark Whittaker I found out how wrong I was. I am fully supported with in house training by a fantastic team as and when I need, and am not forced to complete additional studies- or made to feel any less for not having the additional letters after my name. However, I know that if I decided to study, I would have all the help I’d need. And as for fun- what office do you know of that has Easter egg hunts, away days, and other random breaks to the work pressures? I have now set my work hours around my home life, rather than the other way round. My daughter is in her first year of school, so currently I work Monday and Tuesday 9:15 to 5:30 so I can do the school drop off, and the rest of the week 8:00 to 2:45 ready for the school pick up. This is still a full working week, and I am never judged for keeping to those hours. The management team always ensure that I feel confident in leaving on time on my short days, which is amazing and helps totally cement the feeling of acceptance and appreciation. I joined in September 2021, and can only wish I had joined sooner.”
